Poem length and frame size
The perfect length, the perfect size!
Working within the structure of an A4 page, the average length of a Poetic Licence poem is generally 24 - 28 lines but each individual piece of writing is completely unique so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question! While some lucky recipients may have a few more lines in their poem, others can be captured beautifully and succinctly in less! Spacing, legibility and the overall look and feel of the final poem is very important so there won’t be any shoehorning in of extra or unnecessary words!
When printed and framed, a Poetic Licence poem measures approximately 46 (H) x 36 (W)x 2.5cm (D). If you’re interested in a bespoke piece that is larger / smaller than the standard measurements mentioned here, please do drop me a line!
Lead time
30 days
Call it a month from when the ball starts rolling, which breaks down into….
Days 1 - 10 are for the questionnaire, the chatting, the listening, the pondering, the drafting and the writing. Approximately 10 days after we’ve talked though the Poetic Licence questionnaire over the phone, I’ll email you the draft version of the poem, as well as the audio recording of the same.
Days 11 - 20 are when you come back to me with any tweaks and changes to the draft version. We can go through these details, as necessary, and then I will email you a revised final version of the Poetic Licence poem, plus the updated audio recording to be signed off on.
Days 21 - 30 is the easy part when you put your feet up and I organise the printing and framing for you. After that, all that remains is delivery and general happiness!

Working with clean lines, greys and whites, each piece is printed on 300gm Gmund Cotton New Grey A4 sized paper and presented in a 6.5cm crisp double antique white conservation mount, set in a bespoke minimalist grey frame to compliment the poem perfectly. The frame is supplied strung and is ready to hang on the wall, pride of place where it can bring a smile to everyone’s face on a daily basis. You can see a framed example of a poem here.
